Shakespeare at the Lake
During the summer of 2016 the inaugural Shakespeare at the Lake performance was made possible with the support of the Lake County Friends of Mendocino College, an affiliate group of the Mendocino College Foundation, and The Lake County Theatre Company.
The performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Mendocino College theatre instructor, John Tomlinson, enchanted members of the large audience enjoying their own lovely midsummer night on the shores of beautiful Clear Lake at Library Park in Lakeport.
Shakespeare at the Lake will return in 2017 with a performance of Much Ado About Nothing on July 29th and 30th, again at Library Park. Follow the Shakespeare at the Lake Facebook page to stay up to date with the latest happenings.
Benedick and Beatrice are poised against each other in a battle of wits that has had audiences in laughter for centuries. On the Italian village of Messina, on the island of Sicily, three heroes, Don Pedro, Count Claudio and Sir Benedick have returned from war. Their return is met with joy and celebration, and love is in the air. Except for Don Pedro’s brother, Don John, whose rebellion has been vanquished: he has returned in disgrace. He hatches a plan to disrupt the peace that involves deception, mistaken identity, and betrayal. Can the damage be undone, or will the joy of victory unravel into chaos?
To participate in college courses students must be in the 9th grade or higher.
