Lip Sync Returns to Lake County!
It’s been three long years since the Lake County Chamber’s popular Lip Sync show graced the stage at the Soper Reese Theatre. Community members, dressed as celebrities like Tina Turner or Elvis, sang and danced their hearts out with their loyal backup dancers in tow.
Performers entertained packed houses at the event for the nine years the Chamber produced this event before hanging up their Lip Sync hat. The Lake County Theatre Company has taken the project on, and the Chamber is excited to see it return (Chamber of Commerce CEO Melissa Fulton will even take the stage)! The long-awaited return for the Lip Sync will soon come to an end.
On June 23 and 24, the Lake County Theatre Company proudly presents the Lip Sync again. Since LCTC is remaking the show after a lengthy hiatus, it only seemed appropriate that this year’s theme should be “Remakes.” The performance will feature well-known “remake” versions of popular songs.
“We have a wide variety of songs, from oldies to country to rock, and maybe even a little hula,” says Lip Sync committee member and choreographer Larry Richardson. “We are so excited to bring this fun event back to Lake County.”
The Lip Sync will take the place of this year's Mr. Lake County Pageant, which will return in 2019 . “It’s getting more and more difficult to find guys willing to participate in the pageant,” says former Mr. Lake County winner Tim Barnes. “Besides, the 2017 winner deserves to keep the title for another year. Nobody has done more for LCTC, or the community, than Gary Deas. He just won Man of the Year at the Stars Awards. We are honored to have him remain Mr. Lake County for another year. We hope to start making Mr. Lake County an every-other-year event, and on the off years, we’ll put on the Lip Sync.”
