Board Members Sought
For Information Contact
The Lake County Theatre Company
The Lake County Theatre Company is actively seeking participants in the Board of Directors. Fresh ideas and voices are sought to help guide the Company in the future along with the existing Board members. Board elections are open to any member of at least a year and in good standing over the age of 18. Membership must be current to vote. If your membership has expired, you can renew directly on our website: www.lakecountytheatrecompany.org
A board member is expected to attend monthly board meetings. A board member is also expected to be involved in each production put on by the Company. For example, if you are not in the cast, you might help with sets, producing, concessions, etc.
If you are interested in entering the elections, please provide a short biography introducing yourself and explaining why you would be a good fit or what you might bring to the board. And, of course, anything else you feel would be important including past involvement with LCTC or another similar group. Biographies need to be returned by email to email@example.com no later than Wednesday, May 31, 2017, or by mail to PO Box 802, Lakeport, CA 95453 (the envelope must be postmarked no later than Wednesday, May 31, 2017). Ballots will be mailed to current LCTC members within the following week; ballots will need to be returned by mail no later than July 1, 2017.
The new Board members will be introduced on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at our Annual Meeting, which will start at 11 am at the Keys Club in Clearlake Oaks. The meeting will be followed by our annual picnic. Details can be found on the website, and reminders will appear in our monthly newsletter.
LCTC’s treasurer has announced that she will not be running for the Board of Directors this year, leaving us in need of a new Treasurer. Duties amount to 8–10 hours a month; sometimes a little more if there’s a production in process. Duties include (under Board supervision/at their direction): bank deposits, paying bills, using computer to track expenses and revenue; preparing monthly reports to the board; summarizing monthly reports for tax reporting; obtaining annual insurance and insurance certificates for show venues; checking PO box; attending monthly board meetings; ordering (paying for) show licenses; signing contracts (and knowing what’s in them); preparing and reconciling cash boxes for events.
The treasurer should be comfortable handling large (at times) amounts of cash. Current books are kept in Quicken, so knowledge of Quicken is encouraged, and knowledge of good bookkeeping practices would be good. The current treasurer is willing to coach the new treasurer in Quicken. This person needs to have a computer and printer available. There is a laptop with the program currently installed, available for donation to LCTC under the right circumstances, and there may be a printer also. It would be nice if we could find someone before mid-June to help and learn before our current Treasurer retires.
