Shakespeare at the Lake
During the summer of 2016 the inaugural Shakespeare at the Lake performance was made possible with the support of the Lake County Friends of Mendocino College, an affiliate group of the Mendocino College Foundation, and The Lake County Theatre Company.
The performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Mendocino College theatre instructor, John Tomlinson, enchanted members of the large audience enjoying their own lovely midsummer night on the shores of beautiful Clear Lake at Library Park in Lakeport.
Shakespeare at the Lake returned in 2017 with a performance of Much Ado About Nothing.
In 2018, director Tomlinson has announced the the performance will be As You Like It! Follow the Shakespeare at the Lake Facebook page to stay up to date with the latest happenings.
Performances are Saturday July 28 and Sunday July 29 at 6:30 pm at Library Park

As You Like It is a pastoral comedy by William Shakespeare believed to have been written in 1599 and first published in the First Folio in 1623. The play's first performance is uncertain, though a performance at Wilton House in 1603 has been suggested as a possibility.
As You Like It follows its heroine Rosalind as she flees persecution in her uncle's court, accompanied by her cousin Celia to find safety and, eventually, love, in the Forest of Arden. In the forest, they encounter a variety of memorable characters, notably the melancholy traveller Jaques who speaks many of Shakespeare's most famous speeches (such as "All the world's a stage", "too much of a good thing" and "A fool! A fool! I met a fool in the forest"). Jaques provides a sharp contrast to the other characters in the play, always observing and disputing the hardships of life in the country.
